This mission is embraced by our faculty and staff who are deeply committed to the well-being of our young patients.\n\nThe Department of Pediatrics provides comprehensive pediatric care and support for the regional referral and consultation centre at McMaster Children\'s Hospital.

Our physicians are internationally recognized for their work in a wide variety of areas including diabetes, obesity, cancer, childhood disability, neuromuscular disorders, and neonatology.\n\n Our faculty members pursue diverse scholarly interests in an atmosphere of collaborative interaction and we have a long tradition of excellence in the education of pediatricians. Our residency program is fully accredited and focuses on providing residents with a comprehensive and diverse experience. Students in the Michael G. DeGroote School of Medicine rotate through the Department of Pediatrics to gain first-hand experience with children in a hospital setting.

Our distinguished faculty facilitate student learning using McMaster\'s unique curriculum and are available to mentor any level of trainee.\n\nThe Department of Pediatrics is one component of a diverse and dynamic medical community within the Hamilton region. Harriet MacMillan, Professor, Pediatrics and Psychiatry & Behavioural Neurosciences, received the Order of Canada from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston, Governor General of Canada. Congratulations!!!\n\n Dr Anthony Chan Awarded the Order of Ontario\n\nDr. Anthony Chan, Professor of Pediatrics and a prominent pediatric hematologist and scientist at McMaster University, has been bestowed with the highest honour in the Province of Ontario with the Order of Ontario. The award will bestowed at Queen\'s Park in June by Lieutenant Governor of Ontario Elizabeth Dowdeswell.

Dr. Chan will be awarded the Order of Ontario for his life-long efforts to care for children with thrombosis and other bleeding problems.
