So I reach for the earth, my mat, to literally and figuratively ground me.\n\nSeven years ago I had two strokes and had to retrain my brain to do things that were once so easily done. My first yoga practice was spent in tears (and a lot of swear words). I didn’t really understand what each class meant and what style I would be able to do. I felt helpless.

But I kept on trying. I applied for a partial grant through Karma Teachers and received my RYTT200 hour certification…plus a few other trainings.\n\nI still have a hard time turning my brain off, sitting in stillness, and being in my own head. But Yoga has taught me to find comfort in discomfort and that intention is everything. It’s a beautifully sweaty journey with no end in sight because my destination is me.
